Yoana joined American Gateways as a Staff Attorney in 2022. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University in English with a minor in Spanish in 2019. She graduated from the Texas Tech School of Law in 2022. During law school, Yoana served as an intern with American Gateways and Lone Star Legal Aid. She also served as an extern with the Human Rights Initiative of North Texas. Yoana was born in Mexico and comes from a mixed status family. She is passionate about preventing the separation of families with mixed legal statuses in the United States. Yoana is a native Spanish speaker. She enjoys traveling, trying new cuisines, and spending quality time with her friends and family.
