Elizabeth has been working with American Gateways since 2015. In 2007, she attended classes at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in San Antonio, TX, where she studied Spanish under a scholarship from the City. Elizabeth was also recognized by the board of the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) for her efforts in providing students with needed support and developing unity within the community. Prior to joining American Gateways, Elizabeth worked with private immigration law firms, the Office of the City Attorney for San Antonio, SAISD, and the North East Independent School District. She has vivid memories of her father's bedtime stories recounting how he came to the United States from Mexico. The difficulties he described affect Elizabeth to this day and inform her approach to immigration services. She is fluent in Spanish.
