Elisa joined American Gateways as a Staff Attorney in 2022. She is a graduate of Baylor University (B.A., International Studies, 2015) and the University of Michigan Law School (J.D., 2021). During law school, Elisa served as a co-president of the Michigan Immigration and Labor Law Association and participated in the Human Trafficking Clinic as a student attorney. She interned during the summers at the Legal Aid Society of New York and American Gateways. Following law school, Elisa lived in Oaxaca and Monterrey, México, as a Clara Belfield and Henry Bates Overseas Fellow. She studied Spanish and interned for Asylum Access México, where she provided free legal services to clients seeking asylum in México. Elisa speaks Spanish and enjoys cooking, being outside, and spending time with her loved ones.
